How to Dress "Heat-Chic"!

Breaking all time records this week, the heatwave has surely taken all our breaths away! Reaching 105 degrees yesterday, news reporters actually  made it clear that we should take extreme caution when going outside; drinking lots of water and layering on sunscreen. But why should these extreme heats prevent us from looking our best, right!? My friend Melissa tweeted to me yesterday "@LindsiLaneStyle give us your styling tips to looking fabulous in this insane heat!" I JUST LOVE IT! Thanks Melissa! Here are some tips for looking  as hot as the heat outside while running your daily routines (and my favorites options for daytime)!

1. Sun/Maxi dresses: In this unbearable heat, covering up your legs is the last thing you should want to do! With a fun dress, you can stay cool and cute, while looking effortless and fun. Stick to an extremely light-weight material, such as linen or cotton. You can even belt the dresses or play them up with fun summer accessories (bangles being a fav of mine)!
*Note: Be aware of the occasional wind if in a short sun dress! ;) Sometimes I wear boy shorts underneath my dresses because..well lets just say I had an extreme moment of embarrassment walking in front of 2 guys!

2. Slick back ponytail or bun: There is nothing more annoying than having my hair fly all around and sticking to my back in this heat! I love to wear pony's and buns because they chicly keep my hair in place while leaving me feeling cute and youthful. Just slick it back with some lightweight, non-gooey gel! I love Bumble and Bumble Bb. gel. I am also obsessed with bobby pins! They are all over every bag I own for hair flyaway emergencies. A cute braid or twist at the sides and pinned above your ears is a bohemia hippie fun way to stay pretty!

3. Airy sandals: We all have those pairs of shoes where the way they look is 10x more amazing than the way they make our feet feel! Go for a flip flip that is comfortable and allows your feet to breathe, such as havianas! You can even customize your very own at the new Limelight Marketplace on 20th and 6th!

4. Sunglasses: Find a great pair that match your face shape and wear them whenever going outside! Aside from protecting your eyes, shades are always a great way to liven up any outfit!

*Other Lindsi daytime must-haves*
1. Vitamin B12 (energy booster vitamin)
2. O.N.E. coconut water (more potassium than 1 banana) or bottled water
3. La Roche Posay Ultra Light SPF 45 for face
4. Donna Karen Cashmere Mist deoderant

I hope everyone is having a lovely summer! Stay cool!
