Harper's Bazaar "Art of an Icon" Celebration

On Monday night, I attended the Private Celebration, "Art of an Icon", hosted by Harper's Bazaar Editor in Chief, Glenda Bailey. Inside was an unbelievable art installation celebrating 20 years of exquisite Swarovski Holiday Ornaments.

It was truly exceptional upon walking in. There were crystals galore and so many different variations of how these artists decided to use them in their work. From crystallized canvases, to floating crystals in a glass box, to a crystal bike (I almost fainted when I saw that bike!!), each piece was an exquisite masterpiece. The cake topper though...being in a small room with Glenda Bailey...yes, that was a masterpiece in itself!

Casa Colonial in Dominican Republic

On Sunday, I got home from the most amazing trip! In need of some serious R&R, this couldn't have come at a better time! My boyfriend took me to the Dominican Republic where we stayed at this very special and romantic hotel called, Casa Colonial. I usually post about where I travel to share with you guys on where to stay in case you decide to go to these places, and Casa Colonial did not disappoint! From the people, to the views, to the restaurant in house, things just couldn't have been better! Each person in their amazing staff is super attentive and they just make you feel "at home". With only 50 rooms in the this hotel, there were only 10 people there in total last weekend (including my boyfriend and I), so it was extra quaint and special. However how many people though, the hotel's goal is to always make their guests feel like they are the only ones there.

With just a quick, direct JetBlue flight away, who wouldn't want a weekend, sun-lit escape with a Piña Colada in hand? Umm, I'll take another ticket please.

Stephanie Johnson Cosmetic Cases!

Throughout this Summer, I can not begin to tell you how many girls would stop me and ask where I get my cosmetics bags. I would pull one of out my day bag at lunch or have my larger one at the sink at a house and the girls would FLOCK...and I mean FLOCK to them! It became such a constant question that I decided to share the designer with you so that you can start collecting and using your own! Stephanie Johnson is the mastermind behind these adorable carry-alls and just when you think she couldn't make it any easier for all of us to store our things, Stephanie has an easy to navigate website that allows you to search over 20 different bag shapes or just search by the collection/print of your choice!

Obviously, just by the looks of mine pictured below, this is a perfect example of where fashion meets function! Not only are they über attractive, but because of the variety of sizes, they can each work with your cosmetics of choice.

ADDED BONUS: STEPHANIE JOHNSON ALSO MAKES CRAVE-WORTHY IPAD CASES FOR $50! At affordable prices, these bags makes an amazing gift for any fashionable girl on the run!

With her impressive Hollywood roster who just adore her  cases as much as I do, I can guarantee that you will fall head over heels in love with them-its in the bag!  ;)

NFL October Breast Cancer Awareness Catalog Shoot!

I always speak about how self gratifying it is when I am able to make someone feel and look beautiful through my work, whether it be personally styling someone or styling a model on a photo shoot.  And once in a while, if your lucky, opportunities arise that make you feel like you actually made a difference in someone's life on a given day. Yesterday was one of those days for me and was just a testament to how much I love my job!

I was given the amazing opportunity of styling breast cancer survivors for the October Breast Cancer Awareness GIANTS catalog! Everything about this day had my name all over it...working with the survivors in dressing them and making them feel good and being in the empty Meadowlands Stadium. I am no sports buff but WOW , it was INCREDIBLE!

Women of all ages and one gentleman arrived super excited about the shoot and they were filled with personality! As people started getting comfortable with one another, they started asking about their stories and their sickness. One girl had a story that made me and my assistant literally look at each other in shock and disbelief. It was hard to imagine what she had gone through at such a young age...what all of these incredible people had gone through. As we all got out onto the field, everyone started screaming into the camera's cheering onto the field in front of them. It was SWELTERING hot on the field and they were in Fall gear and not one time did they complain. NOT ONCE! It was just no sweat off their backs, literally.  Their energy was outstanding and they were just so happy to be where they were in that moment, cheering about being breast cancer survivors! It was TRULY amazing and so humbling. At the end of the shoot, I noticed everyone exchanging facebook names and emails to stay in touch and it brought me to such a sentimental place. Within just 3 hours, all of the survivors made a connection with one another that no one else around them could ever understand and it was truly a moment and special day I will never forget for the rest of my life.

While October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is never too early to educate yourself on breast cancer awareness. To find out more, please visit http://www.nbcam.org/.

Samantha Jamie Jewelry!

Hi All!

I would like to introduce a line of jewelry from someone whom I am proud to say have grown to be very close with. Since I love to keep it in the family and do anything to help those that I love, I thought it would be a shame to not share Samantha's beautiful pieces, which bring luck and love, to all of you. Aside from Samantha being sweet, charming, and adorable, her true passion for jewelry design shines through all that she creates and since each piece is one of a kind, what's not to love about Samantha!?

Samantha Jamie is a creative designer who recently graduated from Syracuse University's School of Art and Design. She has grown up around jewelry, always collecting pieces that she finds diverse, yet eye catching. That is what led her to start her own line. She now has the ability to create various pieces that are unique for her clientele. Samantha Jamie's true inspiration comes from her heart. She believes any piece of jewelry makes a statement.

Any accessory to add to your wardrobe can tell a story and complete your outfit. That is why Samantha Jamie creates one of a kind pieces. She handpicks each bead herself, making it special for the lucky one who wears it. A lot of love and devotion goes into designing each piece. Visit www.samanthajamie.com to view the full collection.

How to Pack (like a Pro!) for an Easy Breezy Summer!

With the sunny, warm seasons in bloom, a ton of my clients are getting ready to pack up for the Summer and travel to some beautiful places around the world. More than half of these clients and friends have always said to me, "WOW! How on earth do you even pack!? You must bring 100 bags"! As a Fashion Stylist, that seems normal for people to assume that I would be the traveller who packs up her whole closet in 10 bags and can't decide on what to bring. Surprisingly enough, I just smile back and say, "Actually, I am the complete opposite"!

Now, I can understand why people would think that I'd be a over-packer, but I really have to admit that because of my job I am able to downsize and envision outfits that I want for myself before packing up...I am a total visionary. This is actually a joke between my girlfriends and I. They think its nuts that I can see a pair of pants in a store and within one second make a full outfit with the remaining items being from my closet, all in my mind. I just think its normal-haha-but I guess I'm in the right profession!

When packing for your Summer trips or any trip for that matter, it is important to keep these tips and tricks in mind:

1. MAKE A LIST:
Being an avid believer that if "you write everything down, its the only way things gets accomplished", I am a list-making maven! Jot down everything you need; all your cosmetics, new clothing, makeup, etc, 1-2 weeks before your trip...all the fun girly trip things! As you make the list, like any good list maker, cross off the items that you already got with a bright colored pen and leave the ones you have not gotten unmarked (it seems obvious but trust me, mistakes happen! So make sure to cross off the proper item). Once everything is crossed off on the list, set aside in an open space in your home.

2. PLAN AHEAD:
No one, and I mean NO ONE, likes the feeling of rushing while packing. Things go missing, things are forgotten, and things get OVERPACKED! Set yourself a deadline about 2-3 days before your trip to have everything laid out on the floor before going into your luggage. And I mean EVERYTHING-shoes, bags, makeup, cosmetics, clothes, jewelry..all the goodies! That way, you can clearly see everything you are going to pack while its spread out, not having to rummage through an already neatly packed suitcase.

3. DOWNSIZE:
Try to de-compartmentalize! Depending on how far or close you are traveling, luggage size will vary, but one thing that NEVER has to change during your traveling months is your cosmetic bag! Mine, pictured above, has been packed up with my favorite cosmetics since 4 months ago. I was doing a lot of traveling and felt like I was always packing and unpacking...and packing some more...oy vey! I decided to take everything I love and use everyday here in NYC and just downsize it all! My fav shampoo/conditioner, soap, a bunch of my contacts, lotion, razor, etc...everything I use daily is now always ready on-the-go. So bring it on last minute trips! Trust me, you'll always be ready to roll!

4. TAKE POLAROID PICTURES (if you have trouble picturing outfits in your head or if you take a long time to get ready):
I do this often with my clients to help them organize their closets and pack them for their big vacations. Making outfits then snapping them is a no-weight additive into your luggage that will simplify the amount of time you get ready on vacation (and we all know the significant others hate when we take forever!) and will guarantee you looking amazing every single day/night.

Lindsi's MUST HAVE's for your "downsized" cosmetic bag!

1. Ricky's NYC jet setter plastic bottles: They come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes so you can color code your sundries!
2. Disposable razors are a must!
3. EOS wet or dry shaving lotion: A TRUE SAVIOR, every girl should stock up for summer since you can shave on the go wet...or dry!! YES, DRY!  and you can just pump some into your jet setter bottles (unlike foaming shave cream).
4. Vichy Thermal Spa Water: a refreshing mist in a travel size spray that keeps your face hydrated in the heat and sun

*An AMAZING website called 3floz.com, will literally become your computer's most used bookmark if you are always on the run! Known for selling travel appropriate size bottles in over 40 different high-end brands, theses adorable size products will be your year round saviors! What's may be the best part about the site is that they already have kits made for specific needs so you can just click away and be on your way!*

I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of Summer! And remember...load up on sunscreen!

Is the Red Sole Trademark SOLEly Christian Louboutins!?

Talk about a heel height of a cat fight!
News broke out on Friday that coveted shoe designer Christian Louboutin is suing rival YSL (Gucci Group) for $1 million! Louboutin trademarked his red soles in 2008, bringing fashion mavens all over the world to their feet-literally! Louboutin's have exploded not only in the Hollywood scene as the "it" shoe, but have managed to also consume all of our thought bubbles and "dare to dream" fantasies! Girls  kick up their legs in photos or you can quietly see the peek-a-boo red and think "ahhh loubs...". The red soles have always been associated with Christian Louboutin-and everyone knows it-until now! You may be mistaking those Louboutin's for YSL's.

YSL  designed shoes that come in various colors; Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple ALL with the matching soles as the same color as the shoe! So, the question is...although CL has his red soles trademarked, is YSL in the wrong for making the same bold hued soles??

Here are my thoughts on the whole situation...
As a MASSIVE Louboutin fan (larger than YSL), I must say that although I would always stay loyal to my beloved CL and his shoes, this particular situation is putting me on tilt. I think I may have to take a step down here with this one. Not EVERY YSL shoe is now going to have a red sole, just certain designs, such as the Tribtoo, and each different color is going to have that sole match the shoe. I understand that its a sticky situation when you feel like someone is copying your genius and creative ideas, but I don't feel this will effect the empire that Louboutin has created for himself! The people who love Loubs, like myself, will continue to purchase them and the people who lean towards the YSL's will continue to purchase those! Unfortunately, these things happen to occur in the fashion industry. I just hope this is settled quickly and I am curious as to what the outcome will be. I guess the case is in the hands of the shoe goddesses above!

Closet Cleanse for Spring...

The closet cleanse has always been a very popular service that I offer to my clients. Every season, they ponder what to keep , what to store, and what to give away-that's where I come in! I always suggest cleaning out people's closets twice a year and a little BEFORE the season starts (now is the perfect time!) so that you are cleansed of the previous season and ready to move into the new season.

With Spring here now, although the weather outside is telling us otherwise, it is important to take notes of the pieces you feel may update your wardrobe while doing your cleaning. A lot of my clients and friends, for example, always crave accessories to update their looks and there is no better way to do so. I am a HUGE accessories fan as a new bag, earrings, or necklace can make you feel like a new person-and we are women..so anything new, pretty, and fun excites us :) !

Recently, as you can see above, I cleaned out my closet that was seriously getting out of hand! Blouses were mixed in with dresses and things were just getting so disorganized. Special thanks to my friend Ania, who always loves playing in my closet, because she told me she was going to lock me in my apartment until I had this done (no joke!). For the first time ever, I hung plastic labels in front of the category of clothing so that things would not get messy anymore and amazingly enough, this has helped me so! If my friends rummage through my closet, they know exactly where to put things back and I am personally no longer searching for things where they shouldn't be. I highly recommend organizing this way! You can get the label plastic separators I used at The Container Store (my obsession!).

If anyone has any questions regarding a closet cleanse, please don't hesitate to contact me! I'd love to hear from you! :)
